TurfTrax MD addresses ARMA Conference in Melbourne
TurfTrax Managing Director Mike Maher addressed delegates at the 2025 edition of the Australian Racecourse Managers Association (ARMA) Conference in Melbourne earlier this month as part of an extensive tour of racecourses and greyhound tracks across Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.
Combined with an industry trade show, its popular annual awards dinner and PB Lawrence Race Day at Caulfield, the Evergreen Turf ARMA Conference attracted in the region of 200 delegates representing racing clubs, principal racing authorities, industry suppliers and sponsors from jurisdictions across Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong.
The TurfTrax GoingStick and WeatherTrax climate monitoring system are widely used in Australia with GoingStick readings having been taken for the Melbourne Cup since 2010.
In a short presentation Maher updated delegates on exciting further developments in sports surface management driven by TurfTrax at football and rugby training grounds and stadia in European countries including the UK, and shared data demonstrating the value and importance of accurate records maintenance.

En route to Australia Maher made a short stop over in Dubai where he was able to view the recent installation of state-of-the-art WeatherTrax equipment at Meydan Racecourse.

Maher said, “The ARMA conference always provides a useful opportunity to connect with clients and end users of our products in this part of the Southern Hemisphere.
“The GoingStick and WeatherTrax intallations are required to operate in some fairly extreme conditions to meet the demands of a wide variety of surfaces and climates where we operate around the world.
“It’s extremely valuable for me to be able to see the equipment in its everyday environment, to take first-hand feedback from users, explore potential new applications and connect with industry professionals.”
