GoingMaps and climate data available ahead of Sprint Cup Celebration
This year’s running of Haydock Park’s principal fixture of the Flat season, the Sprint Cup Celebration beginning on Thursday, 4 September, will be the first to benefit from the full WeatherTrax and mapping service provided by TurfTrax.
Clerk of the Course Daniel Cooper said, “We have been publishing Going Maps and GoingStick readings for most of our Flat season and it’s great to be able to offer the full service ahead of our feature Group 1 meeting to help trainers make informed decisions on running plans. We also share all of this on a live going page on our website.
“Collecting and recording accurate local climate data is becoming increasingly important as most regions up and down the country continue to experience extreme weather events on a seemingly more regular basis. WeatherTrax equipment and GoingStick data helps us to build a comprehensive picture over time and has already been invaluable in scheduling our maintenance plans this summer, in what has been the driest and warmest year in our recorded history.”
WeatherTrax equipment, state of the art meteorological recording and reporting systems measuring rainfall, windspeed, soil temperature, soil moisture and evapotranspiration and connecting seamlessly using 4G multi network sim and/or ethernet to the TurfTrax cloud data base, are in increasing demand.
TurfTrax Managing Director Mike Maher said, “In addition to supporting our UK customers, we have seen an elevated level of interest from racecourses and racing authorities in jurisdictions world-wide who are placing greater importance on monitoring and recording climate data.
“We have recently installed WeatherTrax equipment at Meydan Racecourse in conjunction with Dubai Racing Club, the three tracks managed by Melbourne Racing Club including the home of the Caulfield Cup, and have systems in operation at courses across Western Australia.”
