Climate and surface data technology proves popular at Bangor-on-Dee
Live climate and Going data has proved a popular addition to Bangor-on-Dee racecourse’s website since its introduction earlier this year when the course formally adopted the full WeatherTrax Live service powered by TurfTrax.
WeatherTrax Live collects essential meeting information including rainfall, windspeed, soil temperature, soil moisture and evapotranspiration and presents it on a single webpage, together with GoingStick readings and details of rails movements, easily accessible via the Owners & Trainers section at: https://www.bangorondeeraces.co.uk/racing-personnel/the-going/
In conjunction with the implementation of WeatherTrax Live, Bangor-on-On-Dee has subscribed to the TurfTrax Gold Mapping Service ensuring GoingStick readings taken at pre-determined waypoints around the track can be promptly and accurately represented in Going Map format on the course’s WeatherTrax Live pages and distributed through social media platforms.
Clerk of the Course Lily Harris said, “We have been using the TurfTrax GoingSick and weather station equipment since mid-Spring this year and have already begun building course-specific datasets which will continue to help us plan maintenance and irrigation schedules.
“With an ever increasing appetite for data in sport combined with a growing emphasis on the potential effects of climate change it is very important to us that we are able to collect, record and distribute as much information as possible. The TurfTrax equipment and support services are great step forward in helping us achieve this goal.”
TurfTrax Managing Director Mike Maher said, “There is without doubt a growing global demand within sport for robust, localised weather conditions and surface performance data.
“WeatherTrax Live uses state of the art on site equipment to collect and upload information from racecourses and stadia across three continents, 24 hours a day. Data is processed and disseminated from our Cambridgeshire base and made accessible to a global audience.
“We are delighted to add live data from Bangor to the TurfTrax portfolio and look forward to supporting their communications strategy.”
Bangor-on-Dee’s season continues on Tuesday, 27 October with the Spooktacular Family Day featuring a wide range of themed activities.
